Nylon 6

Nylon unlike others, is a semicrystalline, non-condensing, open ring polyamide. By using comonomers or stabilizers, nylon properties can be modified during polymerization. By this we can introduce new chain end or functional groups, which changes the reactivity and chemical properties.

ABS material properties - wall thickness

Wall thickness

  • Minimum wall thickness should be 1.5mm anywhere.
  • For better results, it is recommended to maintain wall thickness above 2mm.

Minimum detail size

  • Minimum diameter that can be processed is 1mm.
  • Metal inserts may be required for softer materials.

Design consideration

  • Undercuts, T-slots, Dovetail slots are difficult to process.

  • Engraving is easier than embossing.
  • Embossing requires more material removal.
  • There are thickness limitations associated with embossing.

Corner Radius

  • Corner radius depend on the tool diameter
  • Too small diameters are hard to machine
  • Corner radii, if any, must be limited to 1mm diameter
